Getting My Fill

I'm a little disappointed that I did not learn about how fabulous babywearing was until after Jackson was born. And even then...I only had 2 carriers at my disposal. One sling that my SIL loaned me that was store bought, a zillion years old, and just not the greatest (she told me this when she loaned it to me, but I wouldn't listen). The other was one of those really structured front carriers. It was off-brand and low quality...which I why I think Jackson just never liked it.

I honestly had no idea how many fabulous options and companies there were when it came to babywearing. Of course, in the last 2 1/2 years I have become SO aware, mainly thanks to my friendship with Steph, from Adventures in Babywearing. Boy has she opened my eyes to how wonderful...and even fashionable babywearing can be.

Since I'm not entirely sure when I'll be wearing my next baby (which will be in a Sakura Bloom sling early on and an Ergo through toddlerhood), I've been getting my babywearing fill lately by wearing other mama's babies. This past weekend, that baby happened to be my new nephew Luke. I wore him in a Moby Wrap, which he just loves, and I snapped these photos.

I know they say that babywearing is so good for the baby...but I'm here to say that it's just as good for the wearer, whether that person is a parent or just a family member or friend. Babywearing really makes your heart swell.

P.S. I'm part of a special announcement over at Mom Spark today, and I'm just a little bit proud. :-)

Disclosure: I chose to mention the babywearing brands featured above because I wanted to. I was not paid to mention them or even contacted by the companies to do so. These are my own honest opinions and experiences.

  1. I love babywearing, with a wrap the baby is just all snuggly next to you & so sweet. Those pictures are also very sweet :)

And congrats on the announcement! You'll rock it over there assisting:)

  2. How very sweet to get to cuddle that tiny angel...I wanted to "wear" my baby but I was too scared, too nervous, so I just held her almost constantly and said to heck with everything else! If I couldn't do it one handed it just didn't need to be done :)
Congratulations on your job as an assistant.
