In the moment

Tonight I let Jackson splash wildly in the tub...more than I'd normally allow, but I figured it was ok.

It is almost Christmas after all.

The greatest gift for me this year has already been given.

I never discussed it on here, but the first week in November I pulled Jackson out of daycare due to a change in circumstances.

At the time, I was a little panicked...it had been easy having a newborn at home with me all day everyday, but after having him in part-time care for awhile (so I could run my AVON business) I was nervous that I would be impatient with him on a full time schedule again.

I could not have been more wrong.

The last 2 months have been so delightful...I cannot even express it to you fully with words.

It has been the most tremendous blessing to have him here with me every day. Me watching and enjoying his sweet gibberish, little expressions, and the way he rubs his lower lip with his pinky finger as he is falling asleep.

I feel like a more of a mother now...someone I'm proud of (someone I hope he'll be proud of one day too).

I'm not saying we're living the life of The Cleavers over here or anything. I mean he is 2, and we still have our moments. I just handle them in a whole new way now. A way that says, "Be grateful that you have a child......that just stuck his hands in the toilet".

So, in the spirit of fully embracing this joy that is motherhood (however messy or stressful it might be) I let him live it up today.

After bath time I let him watch Merry Christmas Charlie Brown...even though it ran a little past his bedtime.

Tonight, I'm thankful for this gift of Motherhood...and the person it has helped me to become.
