As a mom of a baby who has been teething for about a month now... I can honestly say I'm officially nuts! I can also say that since becoming nuts I have been fantasizing about a Mommy only getaway that involves waking up at two in the afternoon, eating slowly and enjoying my food at every meal, and shopping for something other than Similac and Pampers.
Don't get me wrong, Jackson is the love of my life. And 99% of the time he is better tempered than any of the babies we know. But this teething thing....gosh! I hate it mostly because I feel out of control. I mean he is hurting and really, there is little I can do.
We have teething tablets and motrin, and the occasional "medicinal" ice cream (which he loves) but I still feel terrible when he is crying his eyes out and I've done all I can do.
This kind of stress has led to me eating like a crazy woman. You know, because Iced coffee and a cinnamon roll really help stress......right? ;-/
So if your reading this, please send some comment love my way. I know this won't last forever, but being reminded of that fact wouldn't hurt! :-)

You're right, it doesn't last forever!
ReplyDeleteAmanda will be a senior next year and it seems like yesterday that I was rocking a colicky baby for hours and hours, but boy does the time fly! so enjoy every moment... tears and smiles.

Haley, I'm right there with you. Ari has been teething for going on 6 months now. Not every day is bad, like you said he's still one of the easiest babies I know, but I want to run and hide sometimes. I'm here if you need to chat... PM me or email me any time!
ReplyDeleteGirl, Once you get a few more mommy years under your belt, you'll be throwing yourself a pitty party every week like I do. All kids go through these crazy stages and you wonder if it will ever get better. It will and then you move on to the next thing. And remember that things could be worse. We are blessed with healthy happen children, even though we wonder what would possess them to cut their own hair!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHang in there. We are working on tooth #7 right now. Lots of Orajel, Motrin and sleep. He has also decided that biting Momma makes him feel better. Ugh.
