We're back home!

Your probably asking yourself "from where?", since I never really announced that we were going anywhere....which is because I hadn't planned on going anywhere.

After Jackson's spell with aspiration on Saturday night, I was really cautious....but Sunday came and went without incident, so I felt better about things. Well then, Monday afternoon, shortly after I wrote the post about what happened Saturday, he did it again...twice.

So I used my best judgment and decided we needed to go to the hospital and figure out what the heck was going on.

We went to Texas Children's Hospital (best hospital on the planet in my opinion!) and they got to us in the E.R. very quickly even though it was hugely crowded!

After explaining everything to the doctor, he decided that Jackson needed to be admitted. So we headed up to the Level 2 NICU, and they began to do some tests to determine what was causing him to stop breathing.

Finally yesterday afternoon, they told me that he had Reflux and that in combination with the cold he had and a throat full mucous, it was easy to see how he was trying to aspirate. So, they switched his formula, and now things are much much better!

Jackson spent most of his first Halloween in the hospital, but we were discharged in time to go to Grandma's house and snap a couple of cute photos in his Halloween outfit.

Mostly, I'm just grateful my little boy is ok and that we are back at home.

On a side note, while we were staying in the hospital, the Ronald McDonald house provided me with a room, food, laundry services, convenience items, etc. I was blown away at how generous they were to me, and all the other families who were staying in the hospital with their sick children. If you ever have the opportunity, drop some change into the little box at McDonald's....seriously you have no idea how well those donations are being used to help good people get through hard times.

  1. I'm glad you got him checked out and know what the cause was. I was wondering about you guys. I'm sure that was so scary!
We didn't stay in the RM house while Izzy was in the hospital all those months, but I became friends with mothers who did and really found it to be a huge blessing. I'm glad they were able to help you and make it easier.
    prayers for jackson!
